Apollo Smintheon ( Near Gülpınar )
Apollo Smintheus, also known as Apollon Smintheion or simply Smintheus, is an extensive archaeological site featuring the ruins of a temple dedicated to Apollo, revered here as the “Lord of Mice”. The history of this site is particularly fascinating. It is mentioned in Homer’s Iliad, along with the nearby island of Tenedos (modern-day Bozcaada), highlighting its significance in ancient Greek culture and mythology.
